Week 1

At last after a long wait i was traveling towards Noida for the first day of the Initial Learning Programme by TCS. It was 14th of December 7 in the morning. i reached the training center called "AlmaMate" at about 8:45 in the morning and i was pretty excited about the whole ado.

Well, this would be a summarized account for the 1st week i spend in ILP of TCS at Delhi, Noida(or Noida III to be precise). I should frankly confess that the first two days of ILP were pretty boring as there was whole lot of presentations and Documentation going on. But some of the presentations were quite interesting viz-a-viz Tax saving and the one about "TATA Code Of Conduct" would certainly make you proud that you are a part of TATA Group now. Talking about the newly joined fellow TCSers i think the experience was [read: is] good as most of them really seem to grow up from a college life to a different one. Moreover as most of pupils are based in Delhi (or should i say all of them a from North Indian colleges) there are very less cultural differences, hence, the 100% blend has been harmonious. Teachers seem to be good till now, but the main package lies ahead in the coming week, i guess. All are strict about the dressing grooming and the punctuality and some are very co-operative too( but that is a very early judgment and would refrain from such statements further).

As i said before first two days were not quite as interesting as W T F ( seems contrary right :P). Last three we were taught about Life Skills (which comprised of Professional Grooming et al ) and DrScheme, the programming language (the one with least keywords as said by them) created for beginners to get the feel of the application of logic before going to any other language. There were two lectures in the first week and huge amount of hours were allotted to lab. I a way i think its really good as working from 9 to 6:30 you will be wasted as hell and its worse if u live far off. one thing i should warn you before hand that you should take you ILP very seriously as they can give a 1 minute notice for a surprise test. So prepare well and do well.

I would glad to answer your queries about ILP. Please refrain from asking about DOJ.

P.S:- Duration of ILP phase 1 is 40 days. Dunno where our phase will be conducted.

    hi friend..nice post.thanks. I read lots of reviews from TCS employees in various websites..most of them giv me negativ impressin bout the company.im scared to join wen get my doj.. wat do u feel? Are u proud to be tcsion?

    A batch of 100 students is divided in 3 batches of approx 33 students each batch and everyone has same batch timing: 9 to 6:30

    Hello
    In each company you will find people with negative as well as positive experiences, hence i guess its justa personal perception. Since TCS recruits large chunk of techies so it is bound to have large competition and relatively large number of people with -ve experiences. So i would suggest you to work hard there and everything would automatically be fine.

    Hi pankhuri, studying anything beforehand would only prove advantageous to your side. But i dont think that mandatorily required as if u work sincerely here. Everything would be fine. :)

    you said, 100 people in your batch have been divided into batches 33 ! how ? same college people together ? and since all 3 batches are training from 9 yo 630 what is the relevance of the division ?

    Batches are divided randomly and yes they will not check what are you carrying. Moreover they'll provide u with notepad.

    relevence division is that one feels much easier to study in small batches rather than a batch of 100.

    yep some are being held by video conferencing :).
